Feeling pulled apart? Hello Saturn-Uranus Opposition! The opposition between these planets is in full effect and exact on Monday April 26th at 29 degrees Virgo-Pisces.
Our entire way of looking at the world is being transformed. We can either cling to the old, holding onto rigid and oppressive forms of authority within ourselves; or we can learn to let go like we’ve never let go before. If we let go, we will learn how to see ourselves and our world in new ways. What would it be like to really feel connected to our inner-wisdom, to other humans, to the entirety of life? Transformation’s not all butterflies and lotus flowers. Dissolution is painful. We may not recognize ourselves in the process. We can be scared that the changes won’t work and scurry back to the old, familiar ways. We will look for security because uncertainty is so high when change is happening. So we must be patient with ourselves and each other. In Cycles of Becoming, astrologer Alexander Ruperti writes about the challenge Uranus presents to Saturn in an opposition relationship: “If the challenge is accepted, one must inevitably break with traditions on some level of existence...Habit patterns will always resist change; and when the pressure of some creative challenge is felt, the ego will experience a sense of impending doom, generating fear and resisting change...If a crucial phase of the Saturn-Uranus cycle coincides with some overwhelming emotional crisis, the cause will always be the rigid inertia of social customs, privileges, personal habits, or assumed behavior patterns which resist the call of the creative spirit within.” We have to let the lightening of illumination (Uranus) crack open the limits of our understanding to create space for a new order (Saturn) to emerge. Where could you use a dose of liberation in your life? How do you deal with change? What do you continue to hold onto, even though you know it’s no good for you? Through the challenges ahead, try to keep grounded by imagining roots spreading out from your feet into the deep earth below. Remember your connections and support. Breathe deeply and let painful information, emotions, and images flow through you and out of your heart. You don’t have to hold onto them, but neither do you have to hold them at bay. Make curiosity, compassion and experimentation your allies through these next few months.
