Full Moon Focus

With the Full Moon in Leo on February 7, the focus is on the playful child, the drama queen, and the brave leader. Leo’s symbol is the Lion – “the king of the jungle” – and it is ruled by the fiery, powerful Sun. Leo is the part of us that needs recognition and must create something from its inner-world in order to feel whole. At its best, it is noble and loyal, encouraging others to reach for the stars with the power of its warm heart and enthusiasm for life.

When afflicted, Leo spans the spectrum between extreme arrogance and neediness. Leo’s shadow-side does anything for love and seeks only to fulfill its own ego-desires. With the Full Moon in Leo, drama is on the menu. Drama can be cathartic and fun, served up with flair and playfulness. Or it can be intense and emotional, making impossible demands and throwing tantrums.

Try to channel this Leo energy intentionally – into creative outlets, celebrations, performances, or romantic encounters. This Moon can lift our spirits, giving us a dose of sunshine in our cold winter days. Activate your inner child and play around with your life. If you neglect the need for play, you may be headed for solar-flare eruptions in the form of damaging emotional outbursts.

New Moon Intentions

Watery Pisces is often called the sign of mysticism and spirituality. While its underlying message of unity and cosmic belonging can be found in experiences of Spirit, we enter the realm of Pisces wherever we find an opportunity to transcend our individual labels and suffering. Co-ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, Pisces needs dreams, music, and faith; it prefers poetry and feelings over facts.

The energy of the New Moon on February 21 can bring idealism and profound vision to an area of our lives that has been weighted down by negativity or cynicism. It can also help us understand our individual suffering from a broader viewpoint. This moon wants us to cultivate compassion for ourselves and others in order to identify with an underlying unity of life. Listen to this part of you to release attachments to illusion and to dream new dreams. Where do you need more reverie in your life?

To tap into the energy of this New Moon, you can create a ritual of writing out intentions and burning them with herbs as offerings, or hanging them on a wall as a reminder throughout the next lunar cycle.

•             Shedding self-delusion, confusion, and damaging fantasies about self and others.

•             Healing for feet, lymphatic system or sleep disorders.
